Life at Leigh

Leigh church community aims to “make room for all”.

As we've been a small congregation, we hold services mainly at the festivals (Easter, Christmas, Harvest time) and we welcome people of all ages as we meet together and worship God.

We have several families who join us.

Weddings, baptisms (christenings) and funerals are also held in the church and the recently extended churchyard is a place for burials.

A community group 'Save Leigh Church' has been formed to raise money so that the church building will be there for the whole community for future generations.

The space opened up at the back of the church is already used by JAM and we're looking further at ways the church building can be made a place which the community can use.

The Parish Council meet in the church.

Jesus And Me

JAM (Jesus And Me) takes place in the summer months in church on Fridays at 4 pm.

It's a little bit like a mini Messy Church and we explore what Jesus teaches us though story and activities and we finish with light refreshments.

Contact Rev Shirley on 07980 548844 or Suzi Tipper on 01793 750778 for more details.

JAM children have helped to decorate the church and helped in services recently too.

Waterhay Old Chancel

Leigh church was built on its current site around 150 years ago.

It used to be sited in the fields near Waterhay but stone by stone most of it was moved and built on its present site.

The old chancel at Waterhay is still present and is a lovely and peaceful place, especially in the summer when the churchyard is full of wild flowers and grasses.

Each summer, at the end of July, we hold outdoor services at Waterhay in the churchyard and chancel at 10 am and 6.30pm.

As you can see, people young and not so young come, as well as dogs.

The sun usually shines and you are welcome to join us.

Exploring Faith

In the early autumn we aim to start a group in Ashton Keynes and possibly Leigh too, to exploring our Christian faith through an alpha based course.

Contact Rev Phil Bradley (Vicar) or Rev Shirley Danby (Associate minister with focus on Leigh).

If you or your children would like to be baptised or confirmed please also do get in touch.
