The minutes of the meeting held on the 7th September 2021 were approved and signed.
3. REPORTS FROM WILTSHIRE COUNCIL & LOCAL POLICE
Cllr. Chuck Berry reported that Wiltshire Council are approx. £35 million short this year, this means a change to the budget next year unsure how it will affect adult social care etc. The Cllrs. asked about the situation at Bridge Paddocks, Environment Agency has now become involved, there is also reports of a gas leak underneath the land. Various enforcements were talked about, Chairman to email all outstanding enforcements to Cllr. Berry.
4. MATTERS ARISING
a) SID – The AutoSpeedWatch device is now working, Cllr. Ray has gathered a lot of useful information in the first few weeks of it being used. We will put all the data on the website and Facebook.
b) White line painting – Cllr. Baker has filled in an application form for CATG for the white lines and slow sign to be repainted. There has been 10 RTA’s this year so this is a matter of urgency.
c) Cleaning of War Memorial – Clerk has been in touch with another firm, Harri-Stone, awaiting to hear when they have been out to look at the War Memorial. We may consider having a new Memorial put up, all to look at costs for this.
d) Playground equipment – floor tiles have been lifted and cleaned, thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Akers for letting us use their water supply. A repair kit ordered for gaps between tiles under play equipment.
e) Bus shelters – Thanks go Mr. Dave Tipper, who removed 3 bus shelters at no cost to the Council.
f) Hedge at Leigh Farm – This was cut back on weekend of 23rd/24th October, this has improved visibility quite a lot and the residents on the opposite side of the road are very pleased with it. Clerk to write a letter of thanks to Mr. Haines.
g) Enforcements – As mentioned there are still a few enforcements outstanding.
h) Poppy Wreath – Mrs. Suzi Tipper has picked up 2 Wreaths from Cricklade, one to be laid by Cllr. Mandy Thomas, Cllr. Ray has agreed to lay the other at the Remembrance Service, 14th November.
6. NEW ITEMS
a) Waterhay – It was noted that the 2 sleepers at the entrance to Waterhay lakes prevents those in disability scooters to get through to the paths. We are going to see if these could be removed for easier access. Clerk to email Steven Leonard.
b) Verges – The verges are being cut once a year; this makes walking along the lanes very dangerous as pedestrians have nowhere to go when they are overgrown. Cllr. Berry is going to pass our concerns to Highways.
