HM Queen Elizabeth II

Rolling updates on events taking place in Leigh

14th September 2022:

As I am sure you are aware, that a nation Moment of Reflection is taking place across the UK on Sunday 18th September at 8pm.

The Parish Council is inviting everyone from the village to come to the Churchyard for a time of reflection on Sunday 18th at 7.45pm, with a moment of silence at 8pm. There will be no service just a short welcome.

The PC will supply some wine/soft drinks but will ask everyone to bring their own glass (along with Leigh’s attempt to reduce plastic).

11th September 2022:

The church will be open every day until next Monday evening (day of HM funeral) for anyone who would like to visit and sign the book of condolence.

11th September 2022:

The official proclamation of the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles III will be announced across all Parishes in the country today.

The Chair of Leigh Parish Council will read this today, on the steps of the Church Porch before the service of thanksgiving at 5.30pm.

All within the parish are welcome to attend and are under no obligation to stay for the Service afterwards.

10th September 2022:

Due to the death of Her Majesty the Queen, the harvest celebration has been postponed as a mark of respect.

This will be replaced by a short service to commemorate her life, to which all are welcome.

Sunday 11th September - 5.30 pm

The church will be open this weekend and other days ( to be confirmed) until the funeral.

Please feel free to stop by and sign the book of condolence and take a moment to reflect and be thankful for her life and reign.

9th September 2022:

Share your thoughts and memories of Her Majesty The Queen.

Wiltshire residents are invited to share their thoughts and memories of Her Majesty The Queen in a special online book of condolence.

The book is available until the day after the funeral. There will also be books of condolence set up in all Wiltshire Council libraries.

The Queen visited Wiltshire a number of times, including attending Salisbury Cathedral during her Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in 2012 and most recently visiting Dstl Porton Down in October 2020. She had also visited the county for military engagements, including meeting the Royal Welsh Regiment in Tidworth in 2017.

8th September 2022:

As we mourn the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II within our community and around the world, the church will be open from 9am - 8pm tomorrow for prayer and reflection. A book of condolence will be placed and a candle lit.
