DESNZ has published an absolute bucketload of stats this week about the UK's electricity mix and fossil fuel supplies.

In one line, we're moving in the right direction, but we've still got some way to go before we're in Net Zero territory!

Three charts for your Thursday night entertainment:

🟢 For the first time, the majority of the UK's power in 2024 came from renewable sources - 50.4%. Fossil fuels have hit a record low, but that's still 32%.

đźź  Demand for mains gas is at it's lowest level in 33 years. But the boilers in our homes get through more gas than all the UK's gas power stations combined (250 vs 175 TWh last year)

🟡 Despite our growing population, demand for electricity peaked in 2005, and the downward trend is continuing. Our homes account for 30% of all electricity use.
