I braved the bustle of London last week to pop by Octopus Energy HQ. 🐙

They were hosting a Zero Bills event for approved assessors, such as our awesome team at AES Sustainability Consultants. 🙂

Me at Octopus Energy HQ. The slight look of panic is my natural reaction to being in London

They are not short of octopus plushies!

The project encourages housebuilders to invest in large PV arrays, heat pumps and batteries.

If all the right boxes are ticked, the homeowner won't pay a penny in energy bills for 10 years! 💰💰 An impressive boast to make in the showhome marketing suite!

Zero Bills is also being used on some renovation projects, where the house can suitably be upgraded with ASHP and PV.

Interesting to hear the challenges Octopus are facing, with developers not wanting to increase the price of houses (to cover the cost of the extra kit) despite the promise of free energy for the end users.

And I'm baffled by the logic on one site, where new gas boilers were ripped out and replaced with heat pumps, just because the builder and Housing Association didn't see eye to eye about the benefits of Zero Bills 🤷

Thanks to Nigel Banks and Hannah McCarthy for organising everything! 🙂

We looked at graphs, drank tea, and crammed as many stuffed octopodes into our rucksacks as possible. They aren't going to miss a few.. they literally had a pit of plushies 🤣
