Plenty of thoughts still to digest after last week's Elmhurst Wales Conference in Cardiff. 🤯

Great speakers, great venue, and very well organised. Top marks 👏👏

The Welsh FHS equivalent (Part L Wales 2027) goes live next March, but three weeks before England. Despite the earlier launch, SAP10.3 doesn't include Welsh targets, and won't be updated until later in the year 😬

We also received updates on the new look EPC (did someone say FOUR metrics??) which is due to go live next year.

And interesting discussions about:

• the future of Part O / overheating assessments

• raising public awareness about quick wins for reducing condensation

• how EPCs can be enhanced with HTC testing

• keeping on top of assessor competency during all these changes

• and how our homes are getting smarter, and the massive fuel bill savings that brings.

A selfie of Jon Ponting, the HEM-Line blogger, at the Elmhurst Cardiff Conference 2026.
A packed room of SAP assessors and EPC surveyors, eager to hear about all the upcoming changes to Part L (Wales) and EPC Reform.
Harrison Cutler of MHCLG, presenting slides about EPC Reform.
Harrison Cutler of MHCLG explaining how EPCs will be made easier and more useful for the homeowner and potential buyers.

Copies of technical summary booklets from Elmhurst, laid out on a table at the Cardiff conference.
And plenty of reading material to take home.
