Cricklade Town Council is looking to support a new group of Community First Responders, as we do not have volunteers in Leigh, nor Cricklade.

You can find more information on these PDF files:

David Wilmot, a Paramedic and the Volunteering & Community Services Officer for B&NES, Swindon & Wiltshire (BSW) from the South West Ambulance Service, says:

“We are happy to lead some engagement events, and can provide some free CPR/defibrillator training in the town which interested people tend to come along to.

Cricklade will be one of our priority recruitment localities for this spring. We have no CFRs in this busy area (1,531 emergency calls mentioned Cricklade in the address over the last 12 months) and although the town is local to Swindon it can still take quite a long time (15 mins +, typically, from GWHS) for an ambulance to get to you. We want to help make your community safer and volunteer CFRs are a great way to support local residents in an emergency.

There is a formal recruitment process for CFRs that mirrors our recruitment of staff, including an enhanced DBS, and we provide everything to get the group off the ground – equipment, training, uniform and expenses.

All volunteers need is to be reasonably fit, have access to a private car, have some free time (we ask volunteers to book on call for around 12 hours a week on average) and be able to commit to some weekend basic training.

We have a great local network and an existing CFR team in Swindon, and love Cricklade to join us"

The advert is now live on NHS Jobs (Reference is C9202-26-0016; https://www.jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/jobadvert/C9202-26-0016?keyword=community%20first%20responder&location=Wiltshire&distance=5&language=en) and will close at the end of February.

He would need to interview (at Cricklade Town Council) in quick order if they are to get anyone on the next course (dates are Saturday 18th April, Sunday 19th April ,Saturday 25th April, Sunday 26th April, Saturday 16th May and Sunday 17th May 2026).
