After a month relying on slow chargers and pricey pitstops, this will be a cheaper, more reliable way of keeping the wheels turning on the Banana Hammock šŸŒ (I'm assuming that's what the B stands for in Bright Yellow BYD? šŸ˜‰)

An Octopus Energy van parked next to a NYD Dolphin Surf on the driveway of the brick semi-detached house.
The Octopus engineer installing the car charger for The 'Banana Hammock'. Arrived bang on time and completed the install in one day.

I thought this would give the installer a challenge, as the consumer unit is in the opposite corner of the house.

Not a problem at all.. the cable runs low around the house, under patio doors and through the garage. Very tidy!

We're giving the Octopus Intelligent tariff a try šŸ™. If my maths is right, a full charge overnight should be less than a fiver šŸ’°šŸ’° so the cost of the kit should pay for itself after 9,000 miles (compared to a new petrol car). Oh yeah, it's probably good for reducing emissions too 😁

The dashboard in a BYD car, showing 25% battery left, and currently on charge
The BYD dash showing a 6.4kW draw from the charger. The charger is controlled by Octopus based on how much juice you need by morning, or you can over-ride to fully charge.
