Welcome to Leigh
The community website for our Wiltshire village
Safe Leigh Church: We are delighted to report that the Raffle raised £1,085 towards the ‘Save Leigh Church’ Building Fund. We made the draw at the very well attended Christmas Carol Service and the list of prize winners is about to be published here.
Church Improvement: Permission is being sought to make improvements to the community facilities of All Saints Church. The proposal includes removal of some pews and installing a permanent WC to the rear.
Defibrillator: Leigh has a publicly available defibrillator in case of emergencies. We have now added an instructional video to this website for anybody who would like to familiarise themselves with the machine. It can be found in the old telephone box on Hillside..
Fibre Cabling: Gigaclear is now available in many parts of the village; offering high speed fibre Internet. The Voneus wireless network is also available to many villagers, and Openreach fibre broadband is a third option for those living at either end of Leigh.
Wiltshire Bobby Van: Our team of Home Security Operators are still securing the homes of victims of house crime and domestic abuse. Our office team are on hand to give telephone support and advice on a range of home security issues. Please call 01380 861155 and leave a message, your call will be returned within a few hours during working hours. Our operators are also delivering Personal Protective Equipment for Wiltshire Police across the County.
Garden Waste Collection: An update from Wiltshire Council regarding collection of garden waste, and the postponement of renewal notices.
200 Club: Congratulations to the April 200 Club winner; Keith Carter (£20) and runner-up; Miriam Gash (£10). Click here to find out more about the monthly draw, and how you can take part.
Waterhay Farm: Road badly damaged at Waterhay Farm. Take slowly.
Waterhay Car Park: Safety barrier badly damaged at car park entrance.
Swan Lane: No road signs at western end of Swan Lane at junction with B4696.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to help create a Covid-19 plan for Leigh.
This would involve making sure the vulnerable in the village have the supplies and medication they need. The plan also includes creating a leaflet that can be circulated around the village containing useful contact numbers. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in joining this group.
All church services and events are cancelled until further notice. This applies to all churches in the region, not specifically to Leigh and the surrounding villages.
The Leigh village summer party - due to be held on June 7th - has been postponed. This will be reviewed later in the year in the hope that an alternative event can take place instead.
The Hillside park area remains open for residents to use, but please note the play equipment has been closed off to reduce the risk of spreading the virus over surfaces.
This website now includes a live notice board. This is to help us work together as a rural community. Businesses and volunteers can add details about food deliveries and supplies. Residents can add lines asking for help. Click the Live Notices section in the top menu...
